Tattoos and body piercings in Hartlepool, North East England.
We are Mark and Julie. We are internationally known tattoo artists and we have had our tattoo studio at 222 York Road, Hartlepool since 1989 (though originally it was known as Cleveland Tattoo Arts Centre, we changed our name after shop refurbishments meant a new shop front, so we decided upon a new name to go with it - seeing as technically Hartlepool had ceased to be in county Cleveland!).
Prior to opening our current premises in 1989 we had a tattoo studio in Scotland and also one of the first tattoo studios in Spain. Indeed at the time, Julie was one of the first female tattooists in Europe, ours being one of the pioneering studios in promoting tattooing as an art form.
Our clients travel to us from all over the U.K., from as far a field as London, Manchester, and Edinburgh, indeed we have regular clients who travel to us from Whitby, Newcastle, Sunderland, Darlington, Durham etc and also some clients who travel here from as far as Belgium.
Ours is an Environmental Health Department registered studio, we are members of the BTAF and we have NCFE certification for safe working in the tattooing and piercing industry.
As well as being tattoo artists both Mark and Julie are qualified graphic design and commercial artists - trained in the art of freehand illustration in the days before computer graphics; when illustrations were created totally by hand.
We are not, and never have been what might be called stereotypical tattoo artists as both of us are also holistic therapists and trained in tai chi, yoga and relaxation techniques; ideal for helping to calm nervous clients. We pride ourselves in offering a gentle, caring approach to tattooing and piercing.
For those who are contemplating a real tattoo but for whatever reason are still unsure – perhaps of the design, design placement or indeed permanence of a real tattoo we can offer a paint-on tattoo service. These tattoos are painted on using professional products and being waterproof can last days or some cases a couple of weeks. Our paint-on temporary tattoos look so realistic we have also been booked to put them on the performers of stage shows and models at photo shoots. We can also be booked to come along and do this type of temporary tattoo at parties and fun days.
